ABOUT COVID-19.

In late 2019, a novel coronavirus (SARS-COV-2) emerged in Wuhan City, Hubei Province in China causing a disease (COVID-19) that has now spread in at least 180 countries. On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak represented a public health emergency of international concern. The Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health activated its Public Health Emergency Operation Center (PHEOC) under the Ethiopian Public Health Institute to respond to the pandemic .

ABOUT THE TRACKER.

This tracker provides the number of cases, recoveries and deaths from novel coronavirus in Ethiopia and Africa as a whole. The trend in case, recoveries and death counts by region, and a piece of demographic information. The data for Ethiopia is drawn directly from Ministry of Health and Ethiopian Public Health Institute . The Africa data is collected from JHU .

It should be noted that the reported case here are updated once a day so the numbers are not real-time and likely represent an undercount of the true number of coronavirus cases.
